FLY-TYING BOOKS
Each book is 60 luxurious pages of full color photos and step by step directions to tie 10 simple, realistic and effective flies for streams, rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds and reservoirs. Included are side by side comparisons of the fly pattern and the real insect it is imitating. Each chapter includes entomology of that insect along with how, where and when to use each pattern. These books are in an easily download able e-Book format for your computer, tablet or phone so you can take it with you anywhere. Every fly in these books is 100% original and created from the ground up. The pre-cut and pre-messured patterns are designed to work perfectly with each other material. None of these fly patterns are based on old fly designs with some disco flash added and called new. These are sets created to work together to tie a complete fly not a set of wings or rubber legs you strap onto a woolybugger and call it a stonefly imitation.

Each fly pack contains 6 sets of pre-cut materials to tie 6 complete flies so you can tie a half dozen flies without measuring, guessing or trying to master the use of scissors. The strong and elastic latex legs, tails and antenna match the size and shape of natural insects while creating life-like motion even while just sitting in the water. Soft foam that is naturally buoyant and sturdy gives a realistic shape and profile that is nearly impossible to recreate with other fly-tying materials. Even the soft Ultra Suede gives movement to the flies and a contrasting motion to the other materials. Every set of wings was created by ripping the wings off of dead bugs and scanning them into the computer to design authentic looking wing patterns. These fake wings are more durable and harder to rip off your fly than it is to tear the wings off dead bugs. The Stonefly wings are not scaled down Salmonfly wings and the cricket pattern isn't just using black grasshopper wings. Most of the fly patterns are neutral colored so you can easily change the color to match the stream-side insect you are imitating. This also allows you an endless variety of options without hauling around thousands of flies. You aren't limited to what is available at the fly shop.

About Jamieson Fly Company
Based on a true story:
Jamieson Fly Company started around 2003ish with a book contract offer from Frank Amato of Fly Fishing and Tying Journal. I eventually declined the offer and set out on my own. In 2005 | started selling a few dozen flies to my local fly shops in trade for fishing gear. Over the years I continued to add new flies to the line-up and refined the ones I already had. I rewrote the book a couple times as the flies got better. I had only been tying flies for a couple months when I got the contract so I was constantly improving. I divide the book into two books and rewrote them a couple more times. I developed a pattern system to make creating them simple enough for anyone to tie. Technology eventually caught up with the vision had, so I started over again. I ended up using machines that no one said would work because no one thought it would (it was also probably way to dangerous). Yes I have seen the movies and know that eventually the machines I use will become self-aware, team up and end up killing me. Working against the material limitations, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics and self preservation, I finally reached a point where I didn't think I could make them any better.
Jamieson Fly Company is a one-man operation positioned in the middle of a 10'x 10' fly tying studio (sometimes the kitchen table). I don't have partners, investors, a board of directors, a wife, girlfriend or even a publisher to get in my way. So basically there is no adult supervision. I will keep adding new flies, books, videos and probably some swag.
There are always new prototype flies I'm developing and endless diabolical pattern ideas keeping me up at night. I'm not even close to creating all the types of flies I want to make. It's kind of a war I have with fish.
